Learn the fundamentals of home repair in this practical, hands-on workshop taught by Robert Haas, instructor of the popular Woodworking 101 and Advanced Woodworking classes. Held at Montclair High School, this course gives participants a behind-the-walls look at how common home features are built and maintained.
During the class, instructor Rob Haas will construct two demonstration walls that include doors and a window, showing how these elements are installed and how typical wall structures are assembled. Participants will also learn how traditional double-hung windows operate and how they can be repaired, including basic glass pane replacement.
The workshop will also introduce the basics of residential wiring, demonstrating how outlets and lighting are installed and connected. Throughout the session, Robert will answer questions and offer guidance on a wide range of home repair topics.
Whether you're a homeowner looking to handle basic repairs yourself or simply curious about how things in your home work, this class provides practical knowledge you can use right away. Materials fee is $25, due to instructor on first day of class.

Montclair High School is at 100 Chestnut Street, between Park Street and Midland Avenue. From the Garden State Parkway: Take Exit 151 and follow Watchung Avenue west to Montclair. After 1.6 miles, go under a railroad trestle and turn left onto Park Street. Go to first traffic light and the high school will be on your right. From Bloomfield Avenue: Take Park Street north to third traffic light (Chestnut Street). From Grove Street: Take Chestnut to first traffic light (Park Street). From Valley Road: Go east on Watchung, take the first right onto Midland Avenue and go to the first stop sign (Chestnut Street).
