The Public Architecture of Louis Kahn

One of America's greatest 20th-century architects, Louis Kahn is known for his masterful use of natural light and  his heavy, monolithic forms. If you joined us on our recent Architectural Tour of Yale and experienced two of Kahn's most majestic buildings, you won't be surprised to hear that his poetic approach to concrete, brick, and geometry continues to influence global modernism and institutional design.

Laszlo Kiss, himself an internationally known architect, will explain Kahn's philosophy and development of public spaces including Exeter's Academy Library, the Kimball Art Museum, the Salk Institute, the Parliament of Bangladesh, and, of course, the Yale Center for British Art and the Yale Art Gallery.

Laszlo Kiss is a Cornell-educated, internationally known architect who provides highly personalized service on projects from single rooms to urban scale design. He has extensive experience with low-energy use buildings, passive solar design and green architecture. Laszlo is currently working as Senior Architect at Frank Pizzurro Architecture & Interiors, a boutique firm in midtown Manhattan.
