Knitting 101 is designed for the new knitter. You will learn the knit and purl stitches -- the basis of all knitting stitches -- as well as casting on and binding off. The class project is a cowl or scarf in a checkerboard pattern. You may take this class if you learned to knit a while ago, have not picked up your needles in a while, and want a refresher. Please be aware that the focus of the class is on the basics and there will be no time for more advanced instruction.
Materials will be purchased by the student and should cost approximately $30. The instructor will supply a materials list during the first session. Supplies to be purchased following the first session.
Amy Luka learned to knit when she was 54 years old. Having no ‘crafty’ people in her life growing up, learning to knit was a Bucket List item for her. She took her first knitting class right here at the ASM. Discovering that she enjoyed the craft was a bonus. She quickly joined the Montclair Knitting Circle and honed her skills. Amy is very honored and humbled to teach a Knitting 101 class right back at the place where her journey began.
